POLICY UPDATE – Non return of WASTE TONER CONTAINERS – May 2019
We would like to thank all our recyclers for returning cartridges to us, every one we receive is kept out of landfill. At Empties Please we really appreciate the time and commitment it takes to recycle your cartridges.
We do have an acceptance list of all the cartridges we can and can’t pay for, any we receive that aren’t on our list are still recycled for you and kept out of landfill. Our current acceptance lists are below.
We would be extremely grateful if you would please check the contents of your toner bins before they are collected by courier to ensure that no ‘WASTE TONER POWDER CONTAINERS / BOTTLES’ have made their way into your bin. They empty their powder during transit damaging the rest of the contents of the recycle bin and we are unable to then recycle the rest of the cartridges. They also make a terrible mess for the courier and for our processing staff in our warehouse. We do still make payments for all recycle bins returned containing WASTE TONERS and we really do not want to have to reconsider this gesture in the future.
With regards to recycling toner cartridges we can only accept and recycle ‘branded’ toners from our list we DO NOT recycle any compatible / remanufactured toner cartridges, waste toner containers / bottles or drum and imaging units. The cost of returning toners via courier is a cost we cover for you in the understanding that what is returned to us is of value to us and we can recycle them for refilling, therefore we kindly ask that only branded toner cartridges from our acceptance list are returned.
What is a WASTE TONER CONTAINER / BOX / BOTTLE / TUBE?
A waste toner powder container is essentially a container / box or bottle that collects loose / waste toner powder from a printer, usually used in photocopier machines, once full it needs removing and replacing. It is not to be confused with the toner cartridge itself that contains the powder to print.
How can I recycle my WASTE TONER CONTAINERS / BOTTLES?
You will be able to recycle your waste toner containers via the manufacturer of your printer. Contact them directly and advise them you have products for recycling under the WEEE Directive of 2016. A manufacturer of printer supplies has a legal responsibility and duty of care to ensure that their products don’t go in to landfill. They will supply with the means to return items back to them covering the cost of the return for you.
We fully appreciate that the odd waste toner may might make it’s way into your bin, we aren’t going to penalise any of our recyclers if any are returned, we will of course let you know if we have received any from you and monitor any further returns in the future.
At Empties Please we pride ourselves in running a friendly, flexible and relaxed recycling service and we’re here to answer any questions or queries you may have re recycling branded toners with us.
Please keep up all your hard work recycling with us and we look forward to all your full recycle bin returns in the future!
