At ‘Empties Please’ we are very proud to support ‘Alder Hey’s Children’s Charity’ as our nominated charity
As a business recycling with Empties Please you are very welcome to choose your own charity to support, but if you chose to recycle for our nominated charity we would be extremely grateful.
When Empties Please started recycling in 2009 we choose our flagship charity as ‘Alder Hey’s Imagine Appeal.’ Since then the charity have been through a relaunch and are now called ‘The Alder Hey’s Children’s Charity.’ They still continue to raise money for new lifesaving equipment and carry out vital research to enable children in need receive the best care possible.
Alder Hey Children’s Hospital
Alder Hey Children’s Hospital cares for over 270,000 children, young people and their families every year. At Alder Hey we run the biggest and busiest children’s Emergency Department in the UK treating nearly 60,000 children every year. The hospital also operates as a Major Trauma Centre.
Innovation in Care – Alder Hey in the Park
As a world leader in healthcare and research, Alder Hey is building something amazing, a brand new Hospital, Alder Hey in the Park, with a design inspired by children. A hospital built entirely in a park is something new in the treatment and care of children. It’s not just a first for the UK, there’s nothing like it anywhere in Europe. It is an ambitious and radical vision to redefine what a hospital is and how it relates and interacts with its patients, visitors and environment.
The new Alder Hey aims to provide an improved clinical service, based on effectiveness and efficiency. The parkland will be used creatively as an integral part of the ‘clinical space’, to deliver rehabilitation services to our patients.
You can find the virtual tour of the new hospital, Alder Hey in the Park at http://www.alderhey.nhs.uk/about-us/alder-hey-in-the-park/
Alder Hey Children’s Charity
A £30 million appeal has been launched to raise funds for life-saving medical equipment, arts and play activities and for vital research. The current Alder Hey is 100 years old in 2014 and the opportunity to build a new hospital will not come round again for at least another century. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to make a difference to the lives of children across the UK both now and in the future. A number of opportunities have been identified where charitable funding can make a demonstrable difference to the hospital by enhancing the design and providing additional innovative services which are both clinical and patient focused.
At Alder Hey children inspire us to be remarkable each and every day. They stand at the heart of everything we do, driving us to deliver the best care every time, and to bring innovation that changes lives. Watch our inspiring new video and see for yourself at http://www.alderheycharity.com/
