Recycling is important to us at our school and we have several recycling schemes that children/parents are keen to support. The most successful one is ‘Empties Please’ where we have raised £174.50 with our first bin within school. A few parents have also helped us to add to that total by signing up the company they work for which so far as raised £146.25, giving an amazing total of £320.75. We are delighted with this success, simply by recycling ink cartridges that people would just throw away, with a strong and clear message to all our children/parents of the importance and benefits of recycling.
Everyone within school has really embraced this scheme with many children coming and asking for more recycling bags. Several classes have run various topics emphasizing the importance of recycling all our waste, teaching children how waste can be remanufactured and converted into new materials, cutting down the waste which is sent to landfill. Our children are very keen to play their part in protecting the environment and we all enjoy the benefits of being able to raise money for school too.
‘Empties Please’ provide everything you need to run this successful and vital recycling scheme and your school can play a part in protecting our environment with the added benefit of raising much needed funds for school too. It’s so easy, just give it a go!

Re-drawn Orient Express Competition

We unfortunately never heard from our original competition winner so have redrawn it.

WINNER! Pupil’s Prize Draw 2012

Congratulations to Robert Hazelwood of South Hykeham Community Primary School, Lincoln.

Robert has been randomly selected as the winner of our end of school year pupil’s prize draw. Robert can now choose between a Wooden Triple Swing, a 10ft Trampoline or a 12ft Steel Framed Pool!

Pupil’s entered our ‘Free Prize Draw’ by completing the slip on the recycle bags sent home from school. The recycle bag containing an empty cartridge and the tear off slip was then put into the collection box at their school. The prize draw was made at the end of the July 2012 to coincide with the end of the school year.

Once again, congratulations Robert!

Who pick’s up your full recycle bin?

Please note that from Monday 2nd July 2012, Empties Please will be using City Link to pick up your full recycle bins when you request a collection. To do this you can either complete our collection request form on our website www.emptiesplease.com/recycle-bin-collection-request/, email info@emptiesplease.com or ring us on 0844 879 7179.

Empties Please will only collect your recycle bin of empty cartridges if you ask us to. Please don’t give your recycle bin to anyone turning up asking to collect it, if you haven’t arranged a collection with us directly.

If it’s not City Link that turn up or you’re not sure, please do not hesitate to give us a ring on 0844 879 7179 to check.

We cant pay you if we don’t collect your bin, sorry.

Scout Community Week

This week is Scout Community Week and all Scouts are being encouraged to do projects that help their local communities.

Why not run a scheme to collect empty ink and toner cartridges in your area? Your efforts will help to reduce the amount that are sent to landfill. Every year more than 40 million cartridges are dumped and take 1000 years to decompose. By collecting them and sending them to us at Empties Please, we will pay your Scout group for the ones that we can recycle.

As well as helping you achieve your aim of doing your bit to help your local community, they also get greener and you can raise funds for your Scout Group too.

Carry on the scouting tradition of helping others by letting them know how they can help you too.

Earn Extra Funds with Forgotten Mobile Recycling Scheme

Do you have any mobile phones that you want to recycle? You can raise funds by having a mobile phone recycling scheme too.

Empties Please is working in partnership with:

All you need to do is collect old or unwanted mobile phones. Like your empty cartridges, these can be collected from anywhere. Schools, Businesses, Charities, Clubs & Organisations.

Place them into the provided desk top collection boxes and Forgotten Mobile will arrange to collect the mobile phones on a weekly or fortnightly basis. They will then arrange to pay monies raised.

The options are endless and it really is a joint sharing of ideas to maximise the donations for your specific organisation
