Due to on-going changes in product contents and to keep in line with current legislation, from time to time we are required to review the composition of products that we can recycle. For full details of current exclusions please see the details of the scheme that you are looking to participate in. Empties Please reserves the right to withdraw payment for individual products with immediate effect.
To comply with current legislation "Empties Please" does not require a Waste Management Licence for its cartridge recovery activities. The Waste Management Licencing Regulations 1994 under the Environmental Protection Act 1990 allows for exemptions to the requirement to have a Waste Management Licences for certain low risk activities. However to comply with current legislation "Empties Please" does not require a Waste Carriers Licence for its cartridge recovery activities.
The Environment Agency has clarified that "secure storage and manual sorting of waste toner (printer and ink) cartridges destined for recovery" is classed as a "Low risk waste activity" and therefore exempt from the requirement to have a Waste Management Licence.
